The Apple Watch - The Break-Through in Wearable Technology?

Wearable technology has been among us for a few year now with Samsung leading the way with their Gear smart watches however they haven’t struck gold with their invention. The smart-watch has been around but the masses haven’t fully engaged in this….yet?

The Apple Watch was released earlier this month and it is has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue since its teaser release. Coming early in 2015, could Apple provide the break-through in wearable technology that everybody has been waiting for. Let’s have a look at what it has to offer and how this will work out in normality.

Design

Choice seems to be the cornerstone for Apple's design for the Watch. There is a whole load of different design features to choose from like screen size, screen alloy, watch strap and and screen face but the three sort of samples on offer for customers are the Apple Watch, Watch Sport and Watch Edition which aim towards the range of customers that will benefit. The Watch is the original with its basic stainless steel strap and alloy to make a simple look that you could wear anywhere. The Watch Sport is aimed towards the fitness gurus with its ion-glass face and durable straps to make sure that any bumps and scraps during exercise won't severely damage your watch. The Watch Edition is aimed towards those with a more luxurious outlook in life with a 18-carat gold alloy and leather strap that will look the part in many of swanky red-carpet events.

Features

The most important factor in the decision to people buying the Apple Watch will definitely come down to whether its features are worth paying the price tag for what many will say is a 'flash useless piece of tech'. First off, time. The Apple Watch will digitally update the time for you over GPS so if you move through a time zone, it will automatically update. In addition to this, you will be able to personalise what sort of of clock you want to see on your Watch so whether you prefer seeing 12:00 when you look at your wrist piece or an actual watch face with the hour and minutes arms then the Watch has it covered. Connection between your friends is also at the forefront of Apple's goal with the Watch. The introduction of your inner circle in iOS8 on the iPhone has also been introduced on the Watch to let you stay close to those who you cherish and contact the most. Messages, Mail and Calls will also be accessed through the watch with a simple tap (vibrate) on your wrist to alert you of incoming communication.

The Digital Touch feature is where Apple get experimental. These are four new features to communicate with someone that you can't do on iPhone or any other wearable tech:

Sketch
You can quickly draw something on your Watch using your finger then send it to your friend which then animates and gives the person the opportunity to respond.

Walkie-Talkie
Introduced in the iOS8 release, you can send voice clips to your friend imitating a walkie-talkie but with the added fun of using a watch instead. Very Bond, James Bond-esque.

Tap
Send a gentle, simple tap to those who you love and let them know that you are thinking of them.

Heartbeat
Two fingers on your Watch screen will introduce the built-in heart rate sensor that records and sends it to the person of your choice.

Another massive aspect of the Watch is its support for fitness and exercise. The Watch will definitely be the leading wearable tech for fitness freaks around the globe with its Watch Sport option. Its Activity App is a simple graphic that will show you your daily activity. It has three rings that show your movement, exercise and how much your stand with the goal of moving more and exercising daily. In addition to this there is a Workout app for those who want a more detailed workout display with goals, reminders and achievements for you to reach and all of this will be able to track daily on your iPhone.

On top of all this the Watch will be brimmed with thousands of apps for you to personalise and download. Apps include Apple Pay, Calendar, Maps, Music and many more that sync with your iPhone.

The Watch is definitely the next step in Wearable Technology but there is a lot of time for competitors to catch up and bring out their own with the Watch not being able to buy until early 2015 so time will tell but the Watch undoubtedly is an incredible piece of tech.
